Milwaukee Summer posts will provide you with ideas to fill your summer nights, free events in and around the city of Milwaukee, and my personal opinion/review of these activities…enjoy!
For three out of the twelve months, southeastern Wisconsin is a wonderful place to live, but I have grown tired of the grey sky, cold wind and wet climate for those other nine. I need the sun and the beach year round because it is my life and blue water makes me happy.
Thursday, June 2, kicks off one of my favorite events in Downtown Milwaukee, Jazz in the Park. Every Thursday of summer, Cathedral Square fills with hipsters, jazz bands, wine stands and my crew, to enjoy the elegant and relaxing sounds of jazz music. This free event brings many people together, and is sponsored by many different vendors.
You can come enjoy the company of loved ones (wine included), and listen to jazz, funk, R&B, reggae and blues music fill the beautiful summer air. There are various vendors who sell bottles of wine, and this includes a happy hour from 5 – 6 pm. Entertainment is from 6 to 9 pm, and takes place every Thursday until September 3.
Last year, I attended JITP pretty regularly, because who doesn’t love free entertainment? Grab a big quilt, your group of friends, and sip on liquid grape Thursday nights this summer! Also, Cathedral Square is right next to Louise’s Italian Restaurant, where they have the best bread and asparagus ravioli! Just sayin…
You can learn more about Jazz in the Park before attending, but believe me, it is one of the best free events to grace Milwaukee.
